Hi there. Schiff Scout Reservation was once the center of the universe of scout training and education in the US. Sadly, the property was too valuable to survive in the hills of NJ and the property was sold and much developed, but some preserved.

I am in no way officially responsible for the camp. I am a child of scouts that once attended the camp and have, myself, attended events at Schiff, just before the camp was sold off. I believe my time there included the last visit of Green Bar Bill Hillcourt to return "home" to where he lived for a good portion of this life. It was a magical camporee and I'm happyefor the experience - and I was old enough to realize what the camporee really symbolized.

I'm planning this site to be a catalog of history of Schiff and place for memorabilia cataloguing. More to come. It's September of 2024.

I've been inspired to this cause in light of going through some family memories and discovering "Hiker of the schiff trails" neckerchief slides, neal slides. And then I discovered that Neal Slides was a Biddeford Maine company - and I now live in Maine, so the connection seems clear. I've started a collection of Neal Slides of "Hiker of the schiff trails" and I welcome any contributions of schiff memorabilia and offers of the Neal Slides specifically.
